Coach: Ben Ladomirak
In 2000 he coached at the US Olympic Trials.
For the next two decades, while building San Francisco’s most iconic Historical Restoration, Design and Build Firms he was named National Contractor of the Year twice and was voted San Francisco’s favorite Small Business (7×7 Magazine). While embarking upon an amazing journey of creating a blended family, he continued to coach bringing his high energy and enthusiastic style to Track, Football, Basketball, Golf, Baseball, Wrestling, and of course, Swimming.
He returned to full-time coaching in 2022 when he joined PASA. His experiences competing and coaching at a high level in multiple sports are unique and every athlete he works with receives the benefit of that experience every day. Coach Ben has a simple yet effective motto for life – YGWI (You Gotta Want It)

Varsity • 13+ years old
The Varsity group is for swimmers 13 through 18 years of age. The emphasis is primarily to give swimmers valuable stroke and technical improvements to prepare them for continuing with their swimming at a less competitive level. Meets are offered and encouraged.
Coach: Martin Plummer
Martin starts his third year at Rinconada during the 2023-2024 season, coaching the Junior Group and the Non-Competitive Group.
Martin has eight years of competitive coaching experience including his previous coaching roles at the Saginaw YMCA Sharks, Jenison Aquatics, East Grand Rapids Aquatics, and Tennessee Aquatics. Martin has also coached at the collegiate level with stops at Division I, II, and III teams, including The University of Tennessee (D-I, SEC) as a volunteer coach, Grand Valley State University (D-II, GLIAC) as an athlete, and Calvin University (D-III, MIAA) as an assistant coach.
Martin’s previous coaching experiences allowed him to gain insight from many unique institutions and organizations, as well as – and most importantly – the people who make those teams so successful. Martin has facilitated in the development of many swimmers from those just learning how to swim, to making junior national and international teams, and gets excited about any and all progress along the way. At PASA, Martin has helped develop swimmers into Junior National, Futures, Sectional, Far Western, and Pacific Age Group Championship level swimmers and helps teach accountability, focus, and a fun and passionate work ethic to always be improving.
Martin is a 2016 graduate of Grand Valley State University with a B.S. degree in Exercise Science, and a 2020 graduate of The University of Tennessee with a M.S. degree in Sport Psychology and Motor Learning. When not at the pool, Martin can be found reading, exercising, playing chess, playing guitar, or spending time outdoors. Junior • 13-14 years old
The Junior group is made up of 13-14-year-olds ranging from Junior Olympic to Junior National level swimmers and is designed for those who have made a commitment to year-round swimming and wish to excel in this competitive sport. Junior Group swimmers will compete in the age group and senior level of Pacific Swimming and are expected to meet attendance and other requirements during the course of the season.
Coach: Tony Batis
Tony has been Head Coach for the Palo Alto Swim Club since 1992 and was a founding member of PASA in 2003. Prior to joining Palo Alto, Tony was the Head Age Group coach for Salinas Valley Aquatics which was also the program he grew up swimming for. As a coach in Salinas, he was voted Age Group Coach of the Year for Pacific Swimming in 1991, coaching a National Age Group Record Holder.
As the Head Coach for PASA at the Rinconada Site, Tony has helped to develop the program into a National power winning multiple Winter and Summer Jr National team titles. With this success, Tony’s athletes have made a large impact in swimming at all levels including High School Champions, High School All-Americans, National Junior Team Members, National Team Members, NCAA All-Americans, NCAA Champions and Olympians. Their accolades include LSC Records, National Records, National High School Records, US Open and American Records. Tony has been recognized as Pacific Senior Coach of the Year on multiple occasions and recognized by USA Swimming being both a National Team and Junior National Team Coach on multiple occasions. USA Swimming has placed Tony on multiple staffs for the National Junior Team, including Head Women’s Coach at Jr World Champs in Lima, Peru, and National Team, including Asst Coach for the SC World Champs in Istanbul, Turkey.
Tony is a 1988 graduate of the University of Southern California, with a B.S. degree in Business Administration. He also swam at USC for four years and competed in the 1988 Olympic Trials. Tony and his wife, Tisha completed a successful business career managing the Palo Alto Sport Shop and retired from those roles in 2017. The two enjoy travelling, recently celebrating their 25th Anniversary in Africa.
Senior • 15+ years old (select 14)
The Senior group is comprised of high school and college-age kids. We offer nine training sessions per week both short and long course. All swimmers in the group must compete at the meets designated by the coach. In addition, they must also participate in a dry land program prescribed by the coach.
